I am going to the asthma clinic in a month and I will ask for the sweat test then… but a month is a looong time…
If you had symptom after symptom after symptom …what would you think?
I have the cough, the infertility, the poor growth, the bowel problems, the tongue, & more…

No. CF is usually diagnosed at birth and evident right away.
Growth and infertility could be a hormonal problem. Bowel, tongue, cough ect could be a simple virus.

I have exrssive mucus, acid burping, joint paint, little shortness of breath, and sometimes diziness. My mom doesn’t care, she says its because I am a teen, but still.

what ur symptoms sounds like is acid reflux. cystic fibrosis some of the symptoms for that is depression and body aches,sore joints, and dizziness; those are some of the symptoms for cystic fibrosis. if u really want to get a full list of it google it or go to ur doctor.

13 month old only weighs 16 pounds. Frequent cough. Frequent snotty nose. Frequently rattles when breathes. Loves to eat and will eat most anything. Drinks Lots of milk, water, juice. Normal development other than weight.

When you kiss him does he taste salty? Seriously, there is a salty taste, of those, that actually suffer from cystic-fibrosis. I know that research and medicine has made this terrible disease, life span, so much longer than back in the late 60′s when I first heard of it. But according to the symptoms, there is so much today, due to allergies, sinus, asthma, upper respiratory infections, and the list goes on, that you could actually be describing. I remember those with cystic-fibrosis, when they would have a bad attack, their lungs were full of fluid and they made a gurgling sound. For peace of mind, you need to take your little one in for a check up. Hopefully he will get a clean slate!!!

A question asked by fffan215: If someone is a dormant carrier of cystic fibrosis, what are there symptoms (if any) and how is it passed on?
My sister found out she has cystic fibrosis today. She said that she found out she has a portion of it and if her boyfriend has it too then there soon to be baby may have it. She wont stop crying and I want to know if this is that serious… and since she only has a dormant portion of the disease and its genetic.. if her or I could be affected by it’s symptoms. Thanks for your help I truely appreciate it.

You and she won’t have symptoms. She just has the recessive gene for it and so does her boyfriend. The only way their child will get it is is they both end up giving her the recessive gene for it.
The child gets a gene from each parent for everything. In order to have this disease, you must have two recessive genes (the CF gene from each parent). If you only get one recessive gene from one parent and one normal gene from the other parent, you still won’t have it. You will just be a carrier of the gene like your sister. Or the child could get a dominant normal gene from each parent and then not be a carrier and not have the disease (best case scenario).
Basically, in perfect genetics, their baby has a 25% chance of getting CF, a 50% chance of being a carrier, and 25% chance of being completely free of the gene. The odds are the baby will not have CF itself but there is still that chance.

Symptoms of CF are: lung congestion & frequent breathing problems & infections and digestion problems-a lot of diarrhea. The kids usually don’t gain weight well.
