Ella asked:
I know there are different strains and some are more severe than and others more mild…But exactly how many different strains of CF are there and is there a way to determine how severe a strain a person has? I found out my daughter had the disease before she was born and now she’s one year old and has been experiences a lot of problems since birth. I’m just wondering if I can find out how severe the form of CF she has is.

I think I will write my paper on cystic fibrosis, since I already know a little about it. I know CF is a broad category, so what should I focus on? The paper has to be 5-7 pages long.

Lulu asked:
I read that cystic fibrosis is caused by a mutation of the CFTR gene, so even though the condition is inherited is it possible that the environment plays a role in developing CF? For example, would the presence of mutagens such as UV radiation affect the frequency of CFTR mutations in a population? You can probably tell I’m not really a biologist, so please explain as though you were explaining to a child
