Of course the treatments should be continued. That should be a given.
It depends, if the treatment hurts her then it might be best to let her die peacefully with no treatment. She might not want to spend her last month in a hospital.
My daughter, who is 7 months old, has cystic fibrosis and there is nothing that me and my husband will not do to help her. I don’t care what any doctors tell me we do now and will continue to give her her treatments and everything she needs to live the best life that she can. We will not give up and we will not allow her to give. She came from a family of fighters and that’s what we are going to do fight this terrible disease until we cant anymore.
I think that decision belongs to the family involved, however I can tell you that we would continue as would all the CF families we know. What you need to understand is that it is not a matter of treatments when the Dr. gives that prognosis. The prognosis is always life with treatments. At least until the onset of cepatia at which time lung transplant is the only alternative. At this stage there is only a few weeks to find a suitable donor whether you are rich or not. Donor lungs go to the most suitable candidate. Life is worth living, ask our son (23) a CF patient who we almost lost five years ago due to a botches surgery. He is loving life and making the most of it.
