Question by Blessed with a Boy on 11/21/10: What are my chances of being a Cystic Fibrosis carrier?
I am almost 9 weeks pregnant. I had a visit with my gynecologist last week and we went through family history. I informed him that my nephew (sister’s son) has cystic fibrosis. I did go ahead and get the blood test completed to see if I’m a carrier but they said it would be a little while before it would be back. Do you have any idea what my chances of being a carrier would be? Me and that sister have the same set of parents. I also have another sister that has tested negative to being a CF carrier. Of course, if it came back positive, my husband will get tested. Any insight? Thanks.
What? Obviously you didn’t read my question. Am I supposed to NOT have children because I could POSSIBLY be a cystic fibrosis carrier?
