If both parents have CF or are carriers of the gene it’s 1 in 4 chance of their child being born with CF but the child would be a carrier if they don’t have it. In your case you may not even be a carrier and you’d have to be one as well as be with someone who’s also a carrier and since you’re talking about Grandparents you’re talking about odds that are astrinomical. My sister had CF and my children are just fine and healthy. I hope that helps you.

This answer is a bit of a stretch, but…
If the grandfather has CF, there is a 100% chance that the mother (for instance) is a carrier. This means that there is a 50% chance that the mother will pass the gene to her child.
There is a 1 in 31 chance or about a 3% chance that the father would be a carrier, based on the statistic that this is the prevelance in the general population. Of course, his family history might tell you that there is a 25% or 50% chance, but let’s ignore that now, since you did not stipulate that.
So – half of 3% is 1.5% for the father passing the gene and 1.5% of 50% (from the mother) is 0.75% or a 1 in 133 chance that the child will have CF if you have no further information than this.
I think.
