Cystic fibrosis in newborns? Do you have a child with CF?
My daughter will be two weeks old tomorrow. We got a call from the pediatrician today that her newborn screening tests came back and she needs to go having further screening to test for cystic fibrosis. Did anyone have to do this and have the tests come back negative that they don’t have it? Neither me or my husband have a family history of CF, so this was a surprise. I’m very worried and hoping it’s a false alarm.

Does anyone have a child with CF? What symptoms did they have as a newborn?

I did read about CF online, but am curious about what other people have experienced with their babies.

Well this probably isnt the place where most people would talk about this…but whatever. I **** talking about CF in person and I don’t like going to the forums (they can be kind of depressing).

Anyway I’m 14 and have cystic fibrosis, and recently my lung function has dropped from like the high-80s to 42%, and my doctor wants me to start wearing oxygen at night (!!) What kind of 14 year old needs to wear oxygen?! apparently me, but I am getting scared. I am beyond sick of being sick, and seeing my numbers keep dropping scares me since i have no idea how to get them up! I do all my treatments, and i excercise when I can, is there more I can do? Plus….how am i supposed to deal with this emotionally? especially if my numbers don’t go up. I’m very very scared. well thanks, -breezy
